Skardu (PR): The three-day festivities of the fifth Annual Sarfaranga Cold Desert Festival are currently underway in the world’s highest cold desert, Sarfaranga, in Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan.
The festival’s second day witnessed traditional boat races, archery competitions, and rock-climbing contests held at the renowned Blind Lake in the Shigar district of Baltistan.
The festival witnessed the attendance of a large number of both local and international tourists, with participants also hailing from various regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan, joining in the celebrations.
Competitions of the traditional Baltistan game called Kapulo was held in the second day of the festival, which generated excitement among a large gathering of domestic and foreign tourists, with huge number of people from across Gilgit-Baltistan.
A prize distribution ceremony was held for the teams participating in rock-climbing and other competitions in the second day of the festival.
It is pertinent to note that the Sarfaranga Cold Desert Rally is an annual extreme sporting event organized by the Gilgit-Baltistan Government in the Shigar district of Baltistan, characterized by a vivid array of attractions and local cultural festivals.
During the second night of the festival, a splendid cultural and musical show, along with Baltistan’s cultural fair called Mafing took place.
Apart from the local music, renowned singers from various regions of the country demonstrated their talents, providing entertainment to both tourists and attendees.
