Gilgit-Baltistan is the Switzerland of Pakistan

Gilgit (PR): The Gilgit-Baltistan government is giving special attention to tourism, education, health, energy, and other important sectors such as minerals.

This was stated by the Secretary of Tourism, Sports, and Culture, Rana Muhammad Saleem Afzal, on Tuesday. He was giving a briefing to the visiting probationary officers of the 47th STP Pakistan Administrative Service in Gilgit-Baltistan.

He further said that practical measures are being taken to improve the standard of living and eradicate poverty in the region.

Gilgit-Baltistan, renowned for its natural beauty, is often referred to as a tourist paradise. Its captivating scenery leaves a lasting impression on visitors, creating memories that last a lifetime, further said Rana Muhammad Saleem Afzal.

On this occasion, a documentary showcasing the beautiful tourist spots of Gilgit-Baltistan was also shown. The documentary included famous sites of natural beauty such as Fairy Meadows, Deosai, Rama, Khunjerab, Babusar Top, Attabad Lake, Shangrila, Khalti Lake, Phandar Lake, Baltit and Altit Forts in Hunza, as well as Shigar Fort and Khaplu Fort in Skardu. Similarly, the thousand-year-old Chaqchan Mosque and the breathtaking views of Naltar in Nagar were specially highlighted.

The documentary was highly appreciated by PAS officers, who praised the Gilgit-Baltistan government’s efforts to promote tourism. They referred to Gilgit-Baltistan as the Switzerland of Pakistan. The Secretary of Tourism, Sports, and Culture presented the guests with souvenirs.
