Gilgit (staff reporter): In the context of prevailing overall security milieu, protests and agitation on all important connectivity roads across G-B has been banned.
A notification has been issued from home department Gilgit-Baltistan today on Wednesday enforcing section 144 of Cr. P.C 1898 on holding all kinds of assemblies, gatherings, sit-ins, rallies, processions, demonstrations and such other activities across Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to the notification, agitation on roads connecting different regions within G-B and with the rest of the country serious public uneasiness and discomfort. The protests and sit-ins are likely to have serious socio-economic implications leading to the unpleasant public order in the entire region, said the notification.
According to the notification, above steps have been taken to ensure safety and security of public and installations/buildings against any potential terrorist or untoward activity.
It is pertinent to note that the above restrictions are enforced in Gilgit-Baltistan despite the presence of PTI led government in the region.
It has been observed people asking questions if PTI led government can do any thing to intervene if their supporters come on roads.
