Gilgit (PR): In a statement issued to media, the Interior minister Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) Shamsul Haq Lone has said G-B assembly will complete its term as the people of G-B has given Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf a five-year mandate.
He said G-B Assembly is not a personal stable of anyone to dissolve at any time. It is the representative and sacred house of 2 million people of the area. Hence, no one would be allowed to violate the sanctity of the assembly.
He said the local facilitators of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) want to kill the right of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan to vote by abolishing the elected assembly before the end of its tenure.
He said, since the promulgation of the self-governance order, the elections have been held on time in G-B. The Tehreek-e-Insaf federal government also did not dismiss the PML-N provincial government in Gilgit-Baltistan. Instead of victimizing the PML-N government economically and politically, the central government of PTI ensured the timely supply of developmental and non-developmental funds.
Contrary to PTI’s federal government, the current federal government and their local facilitators taking revenge on the people of Gilgit-Baltistan for voting for PTI. The federal government is looking to cut funds, reduce subsidies, and abolish the provincial government as well as the assembly, which will further increase the sense of deprivation in Gilgit-Baltistan, says Shams Lone.
He said that if the local facilitators of PDM in Gilgit-Baltistan were so fond of elections with the federation, they would have done so during their time. Instead, they were busy day and night with their corruption. Moreover, a group of thieves in the federal government has brought the country to the brink of destruction in just 10 months.
Shams Lone said that the politically unemployed elements with help of the federal government are trying to play with the mandate of two million people of Gilgit-Baltistan for their gratification and political interests.
He further said any attempt kill dissolve Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly wiould not be tolerated under any circumstances. It would rather be considered to be an act equivalent to the abrogation of Article 370 related to Jammu and Kashmir by India.
Interior advisor G-B further said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf wants to make Gilgit-Baltistan a provisional province. However, the local cronies of PDM are unsuccessfully trying to put an end to the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly under an executive order.
