Gilgit ( C.R Akbar Shah): UNICEF and Gilgit-Baltistan government have signed an agreement of mutual cooperation with regard to provision of basic healthcare facilities at public sector schools in the region.
According to the agreement, UNICEF will provide Rs. 5 million dollars to G-B government. Steps would be taken to provide facilities related to sanitation and clean water for the children enrolled in 120 ECD schools at public sector as part of the agreement.
This collaboration between G-B government and UNICEF reflects the shared commitment to enhance the health and welfare of children and mothers in the region.
The agreement also includes the establishment of a social registry in Gilgit-Baltistan, which will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective implementation of social welfare programs.
One of the primary goals of this initiative is to provide safe and clean Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities in schools. By doing so, we aim to create a conducive environment that promotes the overall health and hygiene of students, thereby improving their educational experience.
The Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan, Mohiyuddin Ahmed Wani, expressed his hope that the the agreement would be a step towards a brighter future for the G-B people. The improved healthcare facilities coupled with the support for child and mother care will positively have a lasting impact the region.
He further stated the collaboration between UNICEF and the G-B government will bring about meaningful change. G-B government is making efforts to ensure quality life for the children and mothers who deserve the best possible care and support.
