Gilgit (C.R Akbar Shah): The Red Workers Front Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) has demanded the immediate release of its leader, Tajamul Hussain, denouncing his arrest as unlawful.
In a media statement, Ahsan Ali Advocate and Safdar Hussain have said that Tajamul Hussain was arrested by the police and subsequently taken to the Central Jail Gilgit on Sunday under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) regulations.
Criticizing the arrest of Tajamul Hussain, the Red Workers Front G-B leaders said there is no valid legal basis for the arrest of Tajumal Hussain.
According to the statement, the primary cause behind his imprisonment is his social media posts in support of the ongoing protests by the Karakoram International University (KIU) students against hike in fees. The administration had arrested Tajamul fearing that he would not help spread the protest of IU students.
The apprehension of Tajamul Hussain at the behest of the university administration points towards frustration of both the government and the university administration. This action of the government constitutes a serious infringement upon fundamental human rights.
The leaders of the Red Workers Front demanded that the government “immediately” withdraw its illegal action and release Tajumal Hussain immediately, otherwise the Red Workers Front will protest the illegal arrest of its leader Tajumal Hussain across the country.
The leaders of the Red Workers G-B Front have demanded the government to immediately revoke its unlawful actions and release Tajumal Hussain without delay.
Failure to set their leader free, they warned, would lead to nationwide protests organized by the Red Workers Front against the unjust detention of their leader.
