Karachi (PR): In a statement released to the media on Monday, the National Workers Front Gilgit-Baltistan has demanded immediate release of Tajamul Hussain along with a formal apology for its unjustified act of arrest.
In its statement NWF G-B has said that G-B government is attempting to intimidate student activists fighting for right to education. The arrest of student leader Tajamul Hussain is akin to mocking the rule of law.
The statement further said that on the one hand, terrorist groups and hat mongers are enjoying free hand to destroy the peaceful environment of Gilgit-Baltistan, but on the other hand, the most vocal voice for access to quality education is apprehended.
The statement calls upon the students and young people of Gilgit-Baltistan to come together and demand the unconditional release of their leader. Tajumal Hussain has been advocating for student rights at Karakoram University for a long time, and this is not the first instance where he has faced repercussions for his activism, said the statement.
According to the statement, Tajamul Hussain has exposed the corruption involving the current Vice Chancellor and his team in the past. The statement asserts that there is no doubt that the university administration is responsible for initiating the FIR against Tajamul Hussain.
In their joint statement, the National Workers Front and National Students Federation GB have warned the G-B government to release student leader Tajumal Hussain immediately and unconditionally. They emphasize that failure to do so will result in protests starting in Gilgit-Baltistan and spreading to other regions of the country.
