Gilgit (CR Akbar Shah): The duelers of Gilgit city are facing an acute shortage of clean drinking water as only two out of sixty water filtration plants are operational currently in Gilgit city.
A huge amount of money is allocated for these filtration plants. Nevertheless, no action is being taken against the elements responsible for the maintenance and provision of water from these plants.
According to details, there are more than 60 water filtration plants in Gilgit city out of which 58 are not functioning. The government allocated and invested funds from the national exchequer for the repair of filtration plants in the city, but only two are functioning.
 The citizens have demanded the authorities to provide clean water by fixing the issues with the water filtration plants. They have also demanded an investigation against people involved in the loot of the national treasury.
The citizens have also appealed to the Chief Justice of the Gilgit-Baltistan Supreme Appellate Court to take suo moto notice of this public issue.
