KNM Leaders Condemn Arrest of KIU Students, Demand Release of Tajamul, Sanabir and Other Activists

Gilgit (CR Akbar Shah): While talking to media in Gilgit, Mumtaz Nagari and Engineer Sarfraz Nagri, leaders of the Karakoram National Movement (KNM), condemned the arrest of KIU students for protesting fee hike.

They pointed out that the registration of FIRs and the subsequent apprehension of prominent digital media figure Sanabar Hussain, student leader Tajamul, and numerous others is a violation are unjustified.

KNM leaders called for the release of imprisoned social and political activists and the immediate withdrawal of FIRs filed against them.

They highlighted that the constitution and laws provide the freedom to express one’s opinions through both writing and speech. Any sort of subjugation cannot prevail for long through coercive means, emphasized the nationalist leaders.

They also emphasized that KIU is the only university where parents can afford to educate their children. However, as part of a conspiracy by increasing university fees, the poor are forced to abandon their education.

KNM leaders demanded that KIU management should immediately stop such manipulative tactics which force students to stop studying.
