Human development is the top most priority of the government, Information Department G-B

Education is top priority of Gilgit-Baltistan government, claims information department G-B

Gilgit (PR): According to a statement issued to the media from the information department of Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), human development is one of the top priorities of the G-B government.

According to the statement, investments in the development of the new generation through education will yield positive results at the regional and national levels, said the statement.

The statement further said the education sector of Gilgit-Baltistan is witnessing significant improvement because of the special attention of the provincial government.

The information department in its statement has further said that during the previous fiscal year, the government allocated 16 percent of the total development budget for education out of Rs. 5.478 billion. The budget allocation for education was the third number after the power (23.88%) and ‘transport and communication (32.71%)’ sectors respectively, further said the statement.

According to the information department G-B, the previous provincial governments spent more money on power by neglecting other sectors. On the contrary, the present government has adopted a balanced approach by making education one of its top priorities.

The proper use of funds has been the prime focus of G-B government for last one year, further added the statement.

The statement further says the G-B government has to allocate a huge amount of its budget for the power sector because of the absence of connection of its power sector with the national grid. Had the power sector been connected with the national grid system, G-B would have not faced these unfavorable conditions.

‘Similarly, the government would have been in a better position to allocate much more budget for providing quality education. Nevertheless, the current government has made education its priority. With these efforts, today Gilgit-Baltistan has become the region with the largest investment in the education sector’, said the statement.

It has been said in the statement that the achievements in the field of education are exemplary in the whole country. As a result of GB DREAM, sustainable and quality education, improvement of educational institutions in the public sector, steps taken to expose students to the modern sciences of IT and artificial intelligence, increasing the efficiency of teaching staff, lecturers, teachers.

The provincial government has breathed a new spirit into the education system of Gilgit-Baltistan through several important initiatives including conducting training for the students, for which the credit goes to Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid, his cabinet, and the entire team.

The statement added that due to the untiring efforts of the G-B government, the G-B Dream has materialized. The fruits of this initiative are now becoming visible to all in the form of the improvement of government schools and colleges.
