Gilgit (PR): Minister of Information, Gilgit-Baltistan Fatehullah Khan has said police have arrested the driver and havaldar ranked army officer involved in the killing of three children by rash driving in the Barah area of Kharmang on the first day of Eid.
According to the information minister G-B, the First investigation report (FIR) has been registered against the driver. The chief minister Khalid Khurshid has expressed his sympathies and directed the divisional and district administrations to use all resources to console the affected families and provide better medical aid to the injured, added Fatehullah Khan.
He further said the chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan has also issued strict action orders against those responsible by ensuring a transparent investigation into the accident. Force Commander Gilgit-Baltistan Major General Kashif Khalil has also visited Gangche district and expressed his condolences to the affected families and assured to punish the culprits, said Fatehullah Khan.
The information minister has further said that after the completion of the judicial process, the culprits will be punished as per the state laws. Pakistan Army is fully cooperating in the investigation. The Gilgit-Baltistan government has taken the tragedy seriously and has issued directives to improve road safety measures on the Siachen Road, including road checks, speed breakers, and surveillance.
The information minister further said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan, steps are being taken to take legal action against those responsible for the accident. No one is above the law in Gilgit-Baltistan and this incident is painful because it happened on the occasion of the Eid festival and innocent children were killed, stated Fatehullah.
He has said the Gilgit-Baltistan government is fully aware of the propaganda being spread on social media against state institutions and this peaceful region. The propagandists are using this sad incident for their personal and political nefarious interests, which will give Pakistan’s enemies an opportunity to project a negative image of the region and the country.
According to Fatehullah Khan, those using this accident on social media to spread false news and negative propaganda against Pakistan Army, are actually promoting the agenda of enemies of the country. All resources will be used to take strict action against the perpetrators.
It is pertinent to note that three children died, and three children were injured as a result of a tragic traffic accident due to the negligence and carelessness of the driver at Barah Bala in Gangche district on the day of Eid. The tragic incident turned Eid into mourning throughout Gilgit-Baltistan.
