G-B residents can get computerized border passes to travel to China from May

Home Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Rana Muhammad Saleem Afzal

Gilgit (PR): As per directions of the interior secretary Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) Rana Muhammad Saleem Afzal, the home department G-B will issue computerized border passes for local businessmen and citizens traveling to China from Monday.

Due to the Coronavirus emergency between both neighboring countries, trade activities were suspended since 2019. However, the Khunjrab Pass was opened only on certain days for the arrival of emergency cargo for the last three years.

Now with an end to the Coronavirus emergency, both countries have decided to restore bilateral trade in April this year.

The interior department G-B had issued manual passes due to a technical fault in the passport printer. More than a hundred local traders and citizens have traveled to China on the issued manual passes.

Now on the instructions of home secretary G-B, special measures have been taken to issue computerized passes for the businessmen associated with Pakistan-China trade by activating the computerized machine.

Local businessmen and people wishing to travel to China can receive computerized border passes now from May 8, by just showing the slip issued by interior department G-B.
