Gilgit (Ibex news): The federal government has released Rs. 2.2 billion for Gilgit-Baltistan for development work.
Referring to a fax message issued to state bank of Pakistan, the finance division Islamabad has directed the deputy accountant general Gilgit-Baltistan to release the funds. The fund release is part of Block Allocation for quarter 3 (January to March 2023).
According to the directions, the said funds should be spent for the completion of the projects which are part of the annual development program and have been approved by the competent authority in the ADP.
The release of funds will help to overcome the ongoing financial crisis in Gilgit-Baltistan and restart work on stalled development projects.
On the other hand, in a statement issued by Governor G-B Syed Mehdi Shah, it has been claimed that due to his efforts the federal government has released these funds as part of block allocation.
According to the statement, the governor G-B had met federal minister for planning Ahsan Iqbal recently and informed him about the situation created due to non-release of funds from the federal government.
