Yasin (PR): The Village Committee Barkulti held an urgent meeting in the Barkulti Valley within Yasin sub-division of the Ghizer district of Gilgit-Baltistan.
President Village Committee Barkulti Sher Nadir Shahi presided over the meeting, which saw the attendance of Hidayatullah, Secretary Faiz Aman, Inayat Karim, Syed Mubeen Shah, Momin Baig, Muhammad Basheer, Qayyum, and other committee members.
The meeting expressed its anger and condemnation over the continuous unannounced loadshedding in Yasin Valley in general and Barkulti in particular.
Addressing the meeting, the president Village Committee Barkulti Sher Nadir Shahi said the power department intends to keep the public in darkness. He further said the committee will announce a protest demonstration after contacting the Peoples’ Committees of Thoi and Silgan Valleys, after which the officials of power department will have no refuge.
The meeting observed that elected public representatives are enjoying in cities, while their voters face worst kind of power shedding back home.
The meeting demanded the government and the power department to fix any technical issues in the powerhouse on immediate basis. It warned, “any attempt to trick with people after the onset of winter will get a befitting response in form of public agitation”.
The meeting also expressed its concern over power department employees, including the RE and overseer, are at their home stations instead of performing their duties in Yasin. The committee appealed to the people to get ready as the it can give a protest call anytime against the loadshedding.
