Gilgit: G-B government has banned new job creation and up-gradation in its budget presented in G-B Legislative Assembly for the fiscal year 2022-23 on Monday.
Presenting the budget for the new fiscal year, Finance Minister Javed Ali Manwa said there would be no job creation for the years 2022-23 except when required by the government for the execution of developmental projects. Similarly, up-gradation and inter-project transfers will be restricted except in cases recommended by the competent authority in the development forum.
He said in the new budget government officers will not have the right to buy magazines and newspapers with public money. Likewise, there will be a ban on buying new vehicles from the developmental and non-developmental budgets. However, the ban will not be applied to motorcycles, school buses, ambulances,s, and Firefighting vehicles.
Javed Ali Manwa further said it will be the responsibility of the principal utility officers to mitigate expenses related to electricity, gas, and telephone. There will be a ban on the hiring of employees on a contingent basis except in cases approved by the government.
He further said there will be a ban on foreign visits from public money. Likewise, all out-station meetings of government will be arranged via inter links except in unavoidable circumstances.
Moreover, the introduction of new allowances and arrangement of seminars, ceremonies in expensive hotels, unnecessary use of government vehicles, and lunch/dinner from government funds would be banned.
He further said the government will ensure a 40% deduction in the present limit of POL expenditure and ban the unnecessary inter-district transfer of employees in the region. Similarly, government employees would not be posted to GB Secretariat without prior permission from the treasury department.
