Gilgit (Staff reporter): President Alvi on Wednesday attended the 10th Convocation of Karakoram International Univesity in Gilgit and distributed awards and medals among the meritorious graduates.
While addressing the ceremony president Alvi congratulated students for graduating from the university. He also congratulated teachers and parents for their role in enabling students to achieve this milestone in their education. The president also lauded the role of the vice-chancellor of KIU Dr. Attaullah Shah in the university’s research work in higher education.
In his speech, he said with the provision of quality education KIU will soon become a game-changer in the field of research and higher education. He said that Pakistan’s best talent is migrating owing to a high rate of employment. It’s high time to take practical measures to create employment opportunities for such talented youth.
The president said today is an era of the internet. Good earnings could be generated through freelancing and other e-businesses. With the provision of quality IT and communication facilities, the brain drain can be prevented.
While addressing the ceremony, the president urged female graduates to have belief in themselves and leave no stone unturned in playing their role in all walks of life and decision-making processes. Moreover, they should benefit from government schemes aimed at empowering females such as interest-free loan programs.
The president also urged graduates to also think about Artificial intelligence and other modern new disciplines. Gilgit-Baltistan is endowed with high-level talented people as well as natural resources using which Pakistan can come on the path of self-sufficiency, stated president Alvi.
In his welcome address Vice Chancellor KIU Dr. Attaullah Shah said with high-quality education, research, and best faculty, KIU is now ranked among the top universities in Pakistan. Moreover, 80% of the faculty possesses doctorate degrees from leading national and international universities. He highlighted that more than 12000 graduates of KIU are serving in different fields of life both within and outside Pakistan.
