Legal Advisors’ Role Emphasized: Chief Minister G-B Enforces Accountability for Departmental Defenses in Courts

Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan is being given briefing about Law Department

Gilgit (PR): During a departmental briefing of Law and Justice on Thursday, the Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) Haji Gulbar Khan said the government will establish a service tribunal to address the legal challenges encountered by government employees.

 He said the Chief Court Judicial Complex will be developed on phases keeping in mind the availability of resources. The aim is to effectively tackle address the issues faced by judges, lawyers, and citizens.

Keeping the crucial role of the Department of Law and Justice, it has been decided the problems faced by this department will be addressed with priority.

The Chief Minister G-B added that each department has a legal advisor to address legal matters in courts. The secretaries will be obliged to submit counterclaims in lawsuits involving their departments, utilizing the services of the legal advisors within the stipulated timeframe.

He emphasized the legal advisors to defend government in the courts. Failure to defend their department in legal cases against the department could result in disciplinary actions against the relevant officers.

It is pertinent to note that due to non-submission of counterclaims in the courts and non-appeal within the stipulated time frame, many cases are decided against the government.

 Keeping this in mind that it has been decided that the counterclaims of all the cases against the government should be submitted in the courts within the stipulated period.

It is pertinent to note that courts have ruled numerous cases against the government due to the failure to submit counterclaims and appeals within the specified time frame. Given this, it has been decided that counterclaims for all government-related cases must be submitted in court within the prescribed timeframe.

On this occasion, the Provincial Secretary Law and Justice Rahim Gul gave a detailed briefing regarding the departmental activities.
