Gilgit (Bureau report): Full-proof security arrangement have been made to maintain peace and tranquility during Muharram ul Haram in Gilgit-Baltistan. From 1st of Muharram to Ashura Personnel of police, rangers, G-B Scouts and other forces will be deployed on security duty.
The processions and gatherings will also be monitored with the help of CCTV cameras. The administration has also banned more than 40 scholars and speakers with potential to incite to people on sectarian lines to enter Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Federal Ministry of Interior has also approved the deployment of the army in G-B and Azad Kashmir to ensure peace and order during Muharram.
According to the sources, the mobile service will be suspended across Gilgit-Baltistan during the 9th and 10th Muharram processions. Similarly, peace committees at local level also have been activated to maintain law and order throughout GB while offensive speeches, chalking on walls and raising controversial slogans have been strictly banned.
According to the local administration, strict action will be taken against those violating the set rules and law.
