Gilgit (Bureau chief): According to court sources, advocate Jahangir Shah and well-known political leader Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) Baba Jan have filed a writ against the G-B government for its failure to provide health facilities in Ghizer and Hunza districts.
While talking to the representative of Ibex Times, Jahangir Shah Advocate said that the government’s claim of providing health facilities is just limited to paperwork, practically the performance of the government is zero.
Like successive governments in the past, the present government also has subjected the districts of Hunza and Ghizer to indifference and neglect vis a vis other districts, said Shah while answering a question.
He said that there isn’t any clear procedure in connection with the recruitment of health staff and the provision of required medical technology and equipment. Constructing buildings without staff and required facilities is of no value, further added Jahangir.
Showing his disappointment on the status quo of health sector in Ghizer and Hunza, Jahangir Shah advocate said the authorities is reluctant to do anything worthwhile despite the bringing matters into their notice frequently.
While responding to another question, he said poor patient cannot benefit from the dialysis machinery installed in the Ghizer and Hunza districts due to lack of staff and related equipment. As a result, people coming to hospitals from remote areas are subjected to suffering and miseries. These patients travel many miles from far-flung areas to the Gilgit city for dialysis. They go through irreparable suffering while commuting to and from their homes on such a long distance.
On an investigation by our correspondent, it has been revealed that the special health facilities provided by the government are just lofty claims without any practical work in the public interest.
Taking this all situation into consideration, a request has been filed in the court to bring the newly installed dialysis machines functional in the two districts.
The case will be followed by the former President High Court Bar Muhammad Nafees Advocate.
