Two day training workshop on mobile journalism at Central Press Club Gilgit

Gilgit (PR): The two-day training workshop on “Mobile Journalism (MOJO)” organized by Pakistan Information Centre and Press Information Department, Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) at Central Press Club Gilgit concluded on Friday.

Presided by Secretary Information and Broadcasting Zameer Abbas G-B, a closing ceremony was held on the last day of the workshop.

While addressing the concluding ceremony, Zameer Abbas said that many changes have taken place in the field of journalism due to modern technology. Equipping journalists with modern technology is an important need of the hour. Mobile journalism has become a part of mainstream journalism and the lives of journalists.

He lauded the Pakistan Information Center and Press Information Department for organizing the two-day workshop for journalists on Mobile Journals.

He said that the Information and Broadcasting Department of Gilgit-Baltistan is trying for the welfare of journalists. In consultation with Central Press Club, his department will soon organize a session for journalists in the style of a training workshop given by PIC, said the minister of information G-B.

The session was attended by members of the Central Press Club, journalists from several TV channels, newspapers, and students of the Public Relations Department of Karakoram International University. Journalists from other districts of Gilgit participated in the training workshop online through Zoom.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the workshop, Chief Executive Officer G-B Rural Support Program Abdul Latif said that with the development in technology, it becomes imperative for journalists to demonstrate increased responsibility. Core journalistic ethics should be kept aloft.

He urged the workshop participants to practice research-based journalism and avoid violating the sanctity of the pen.
