Gilgit (PR): In a move towards greater transparency and accountability, the office of Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan, Muhyuddin Ahmad Wani, has issued a directive aimed at preventing possible Misuse of Government Vehicles within the region.
With the exception of Law Enforcement Agencies, the directive will apply on all government institution in Gilgit-Baltistan on immediate basis.
According to the directive, all government vehicles in Gilgit-Baltistan must prominently:
- display the GB Government logo on the bonnet and both side doors of the vehicle.
- each vehicle must be clearly marked as “purchased with public funds.
- comply with the directive within one week. Failure to comply will result in vehicle being reclaimed, and those responsible may face disciplinary action.
According to the directive, the initiative is aimed at:
- curbing the unauthorized personal use of government vehicles for non-official activities.
- prohibiting the use of government vehicles by family members of government officials.
- making it sure that Government vehicles are not used for excursion trips or any activities not officially sanctioned.
- emphasizing the fact that vehicles acquired with public funds are intended for public service delivery, and any misuse for personal gain is deemed unacceptable.
The notification issued in this regard from Chief Secretary office calls for cooperation and commitment of all concerned departments and officials to ensure the successful implementation of this directive.
“Adherence to these guidelines is seen as crucial in maintaining the highest standards of governance and public accountability within the region”, further says the notification.
