Hero of G-B War of Independence 1947 passes away at 93

Yasin (Correspondent): The hero of Gilgit-Baltistan’s War of independence, Shehzada Wafa Jan passed away at his birth place Sandhi in Yasin on Saturday. He was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Yasin.

Shehzada Wafa Jan was also a writes and famous poet of Khowar literature. After retirement he dedicate his life to educate the young people of his area.

 Shehzada Wafa Jan joined Gilgit Scouts of Dogra times and displayed highest level of courage and bravery when mutiny took place within Dogra army. After demise of Dogra raj in G-B, he continued his service in Northern Lite Infantry until his retirement.

During his service in NLI, Shehzada Wafa Jan also continued his studies and became of the few people to have got education beyond matriculation.

After his retirement from army as Naib subedar, Wafa Jan remained associated with teaching profession. Now he has the credit to have educated hundred of people. He is also hailed as ustadon ka ustad ( the teacher of teachers) in Yasin for his educational services.
