Officials from the departments of transport, finance, excise and taxation along with representatives from the Transport Owners Association, Transport Union, Suzuki Drivers Union, NATCO, and Rent a Car Service providers, participated in the meeting.
The proposal for fare reductions was made in view of the recent decrease in petroleum prices. Upon granting approval for the suggested fare cuts, the transport minister urged transporters to implement the decisions on immediate basis.
According to the Press Department G-B, the reductions in the fares of passenger and goods forwarding transport will be followed by a substantial decrease in the prices of essential goods, construction materials (such as cement and steel), as well as fruits and vegetables, ultimately benefiting the public.
