Gilgit (C.R. Akbar Shah): Thousands of male and female students travelling at least 2 kilometers distance will receive stipend as part if travel facilities.
The stipend of Rs. 4 billion will only be provided to the students enrolled in public sector schools. Each student will receive minimum Rs. 10.
The minimum criteria for to be eligible to receive the stipend is 2 kilometers distance of the school from the student’s home.
The chief secretary G-B had allocated Rs. 2 billion last year for the same purpose as per the figure of students reported by respective schools. However, this year the amount has been increased this year.
The distance travel stipend is an initiative of the current chief secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Mohiuddin Ahmad Wani. The initiative is aimed attracting more children to schools and promoting education in G-B.
The people of Gilgit-Baltistan have appreciated the efforts of CS G-B. They have expressed their hope that this initiative of CS G-B will help encourage poor students and mitigate out-of-school children in G-B.
