Friends of Habib Jalib organize Jalib Mela to remember the poet of oppressed in Karachi

Karachi (Correspondent): Karachi press club attracted a large number of people from different walks of life as it organized Habib one day festival “Jalib mela” in cooperation with Ahbab-e-Jalib on Sunday evening.

Moderated by veteran journalist Mujahid Bralvi, the colorful event started hours before sunset and lasted till 9 PM.

Intellectuals and activists that were closed to Jalib during his life time spoke at the occasion and paid tribute to the great poet for his activism through poetry and practical struggle.

People belonging to different political parties, labour organizations, civil society, student organizations, poets, academia and artists attended the event.

Speakers said Habib Jalib was not only a poet. He was rather a advocate and protagonist of democracy, human rights and freedom of journalism.

Tableaus, dance and musical performances were presented on the poetry of Habib Jalib. Country’s prominent Kathack artist Sheema Kirmani and Dr. Taimoor ur Rehman of Lal band perfomed with their teams on different themes poetry of Habib Jalib and won the appreciation of audience.
