Gilgit (PR): Chaired by the Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Muhyuddin Ahmad Wani, an important meeting of Forest and Wildlife Fund (FWF) Management Committee took place on Wednesday.
Numerous development projects amounting to over twelve crore rupees were granted approval in the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Finance Gilgit-Baltistan, Secretary Development and Planning Gilgit-Baltistan, Secretary Forests Wildlife and Environment Gilgit-Baltistan, Chief Conservator Forest and other senior officers of the Department of Forests and Wildlife.
In the meeting, five schemes of utmost importance were reviewed and after much deliberation, they were approved by the Forest and Wild Fund.
Within these initiatives, an allocation of 4.5 crore rupees was approved for the construction of prefabricated washrooms facilities across different tourist destinations in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Similarly, a sum of Rs.2.7 million was approved for the renovation and repair of government school in Tetwal area of Astor district, while an approval of Rs.8 million funds was granted for construction of Forest and Wildlife Inspection Hut in Kalshai Astor.
Additionally, the meeting approved a fund of Rs.5.2 million to enhance the efficiency and capacity of the forest department.
Moreover, during the meeting, a sum of Rs. 2 million was sanctioned to make a comprehensive mechanism and formulate policy aimed at regulating the surge in nomadic livestock farmers from various regions to Deosai during the summer transhumance.
