Gilgit (Information department GB): A ceremony was held at Governor House Gilgit in connection with Pakistan Day March 23 to confer civil honors to people who have rendered valuable services in various fields of life.
The ceremony officially began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Five personalities from Gilgit-Baltistan were honored with civil awards in recognition of their services in the ceremony,.
Ghulam Hussain Husnoo, a well-known academic and literary figure from Ghanche district, was awarded the presidential award for excellence and performance in honor of his valuable services in the field of literature.
The renowned poet and writer Jamshed Khan Dukhi was also posthumously honored with the presidential award for excellence and performance for his meritorious services in the field of art, literature and poetry. His son Faizan Dukhi received his award.
Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah presented the presidential award for excellence to renowned mountaineer Sarbaz Khan for demonstrating his skills in the field of sports and mountaineering.
 Renowned female ski player Amna Wali was also honored with presidential awards in recognition of her meritorious services in the field of sports and skiing.
 Abdul Karim known as Little Karim was also posthumously honored with the presidential award for excellence in mountaineering, which was received by his son Muhammad Hanif.
Provincial Minister for agriculture Kazim Maitham, chief secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani, Inspector General of Police Dar Ali Khattak, along with senior government officials, civil society and media representatives participated in the colorful but simple ceremony on Pakistan Day.
