Gilgit (Correspondent): Members of the Women’s Caucus in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, including the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, convened a briefing with the Interior Secretary G-B and the Inspector General of Police G-B to inquire about the ongoing Falak Noor case.
During the briefing, the Inspector General of Police G-B said the accused individuals have been granted pre-arrest bail until April 6, hampering further police action. He further said any subsequent steps would align with the court’s decisions.
The case revolves around thirteen-year-old Falak Noor, who had been missing from Sultanabad village near Gilgit city for months. A recent development emerged when an audio message surfaced on social media, purportedly from Falak Noor, claiming she had willingly married a person of her choice. However, this revelation came amidst widespread protests across Gilgit city and other parts of the country, including Islamabad.
Contradicting the narrative presented in the audio message, the father of the sixteen-year-old girl maintains that his daughter is being coerced into making statements favoring her alleged abductors. According to his counsel, Ahsan Ali Advocate, the Falak Noor case is a case of abduction, forced marriage, and manipulation to extract statements.
The unfolding events underscore the complexities and controversies surrounding the Falak Noor case, prompting scrutiny and demands for justice from various stakeholders.
