Gilgit (Court reporter): Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan announced various projects to facilitate the lawyers’ community of Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to details, chief minister G-B participated in the oathtaking ceremony of the newly elected cabinet of the High Court Bar Association and District Bar Association Gilgit on Tuesday.
While addressing the ceremony, the chief minister congratulated the newly elected officials of the lawyers’ bodies for taking on new responsibilities and expressed his whishes for playing a productive role in the dispensation of justice in society.
He said a welfare society sans justice is unthinkable as justice guarantees durable peace. The role of lawyers is very important in providing cheap and speedy justice, added the chief minister.
Chief Minister G-B said that the Provincial Law Minister will present recommendations to separate the offices of the prosecutor general and advocate general in the next cabinet meeting. Moreover, vacancies for additional advocate general, assistant advocate general, deputy advocate general and deputy prosecutor general will be created in the current month. The provincial government will take strong measures for the establishment of family and labour courts.
During his address, the chief minister announced Rs. 1 billion for the establishment of an E-library for lawyers of Gilgit-Baltistan. With this announcement, the long-standing demand of the lawyers’ community finally came to its fulfillment.
He also announced the approval renovation project of the High Court Bar Association building, the provision of the building for District Bar Association Gilgit, and the approval of Rs. 3 billion to facilitate the lawyers’ community in the next year’s budget.
