On Thursday Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani directed through a letter written to the secretaries in different departments to bring a reduction of 40% in fuel consumption and avoid unnecessary expenditure.
According to the letter, the decision has been made in light of the worsening economic conditions of the country. The implementation of the decision will bring a cut in non-development expenditure thereby leading to acting economically.
People belonging to different walks of life in GB have appreciated the decision of the chief secretary. They have demanded to ensure the implementation of this decision in letter and spirit.
It is pertinent to note that a 40% non-development budget in GB is used in the name of vehicular fuel consumption, maintenance, bureaucratic protocols, etc.
