Gilgit (PR): In a high-level meeting in Gilgit city, the chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan said his government is taking measures to provide maximum facilities to the fasting people during the month of Ramadan.
The chief minister directed the water and power department to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during Sehri and Iftar hours in Skardu and Gilgit. A sum of 6 and 8 crore rupees have been sanctioned for running thermal generators in Skardu and Gilgit cities respectively, said chief minister G-B.
Chief minister Gilgit-Baltistan directed the Secretary water and power department to ensure the supply of electricity to water pumps to ensure water availability in Gilgit.
CM Khalid Khurshid took notice of the lack of food items under the Ramadan package in the utility stores. He directed the provincial interior secretary to take steps to ensure the availability of food items in the utility stores under the Ramadan package.
Profiteering and hoarding will not be tolerated in the province, clarified the chief minister. He directed the concerned officials to activate price control committees in all districts and crack down on profiteers, he further added.
CM Khalid Khurshid directed the provincial interior secretary to make the price control app active in Gilgit in the next 48 hours on the pattern of Baltistan and Diamer and submit the report of the price control committees on a daily basis.
He also gave instructions for the establishment of Ramadan Sasta Bazar in different districts during the meeting.
The participants of the meeting included the provincial Ministers, Chief Secretary, Provincial Home Secretary, IGP, and other concerned secretaries participated in the meeting.
