Chief Justice Supreme Appellate Court G-B Summons Secretary Health to Brief Medical Reporting Issues

Gilgit (PR): Chief Justice Supreme Appellate Court Gilgit-Baltistan Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan heard the petition filed by the plaintiffs during the hearing in Ali Abbas et al. vs. Provincial Government.

During the hearing, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Appellate Court heard the statements of the petitioners and others. The Chief Justice enquired about the bruises sustained by the plaintiffs not recorded properly in the medical report.

Previously the court had ordered the Advocate General to direct the concerned medical officers to appear before the Hon’ble Court along with the records.

On the previous orders of the honorable court, the concerned doctors appeared before the court on Friday along with the medical record and recorded their statements. In their statement, the doctors said that no training has been given about how to report the nature of severe injuries.

They informed the court there is no such procedure in the civil hospitals of GB which can be used to report about the nature of severe injuries. However, medical certificates are issued to the plaintiffs for legal proceedings.

After hearing the statement of the doctors, Chief Justice Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan summoned the Secretary Health Gilgit-Baltistan to appear before the court on September 5, 2023 to explain and inform the necessary steps need to be taken to remedy such problems in future.
