Islamabad (PR): Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Haji Gulbar Khan held a meeting with Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister, Anwar Haq Kakar on Wednesday in Islamabad. The Federal Interior Minister Sarfraz Ahmaed Bugti was also present in the meeting.
During the encounter, Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan extended his congratulations to Anwarul-Haq-Kakar for assuming the role of Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Haji Gulbar Khan invited the Caretaker Prime Minister to visit Gilgit-Baltistan. Accepting the invitation, the Caretaker Prime Minister promised to visit Gilgit-Baltistan in the second week of September two days.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan discussed 6-point agenda with the Caretaker Prime Minister This agenda encompassed critical issues such as the budgetary shortfall, the need for augmenting developmental funds, the creation of a robust mechanism for budget allocation, the increase in wheat subsidies, the prompt release of Rs. 4 million as part of the wheat subsidy, and the need of formal functioning of the four new districts in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan emphasized G-B holds A huge potential to boost tourism sector, harnessing hydropower, and mineral resources. He highlighted the need for assistance from the federal government to facilitate the local people to benefit from the abundant resources found in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar said that Gilgit-Baltistan has vast tourism potential which has not been fully exploited. The government will take all possible steps to remove the backwardness of Gilgit-Baltistan.
He promised to visit Gilgit-Baltistan in September and expressed his interest to meet with the students of the University of Baltistan. The residents of Gilgit-Baltistan have consistently displayed remarkable hospitality, something I’ve personally encountered on numerous occasions, said the Caretaker PM.
He instructed all relevant departments to address the concerns of CM G-B prior to his visit to Gilgit-Baltistan.
