Gilgit (correspondent): In a statement issued to the media, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Astor Police Suhail Ahmad has said police have started an awareness campaign related to traffic laws along with initiation of legal action against the violators.
According to PRO Astore Valley, the measures are taken as per the orders of Inspector General of Police Gilgit-Baltistan Dar Ali Khan Khattak and DIG Range Diamir-Astor Tufail Ahmed Mir.
Moreover, the superintendent of police (SP) Astore Muhammad Shireen has issued orders to the SDPOs of the circle to ensure the implementation of traffic rules through awareness campaigns regarding traffic laws to reduce the loss of precious human lives.
According to the notice, police will take motorcycles from underage riders into its custody. They will be returned to their parents only after they give a written affidavit about not allowing their underage children to ride again.
According to PRO Astore police, action will also be taken against riders without helmets, vehicle documents, drawing licenses, and non-specified number plates across the district. There will be strict checking of tinted glasses, further adds the notice.
The notice appealed to the people of the district to cooperate with the police and prove that they are responsible and law-abiding citizens.
