Astore (Correspondent): Like rest of Gilgit-Baltistan, Ashura processions and gatherings were organized peacefully in Astore district.
From the beginning of the day, mourners from various regions of District Astore solemnly gathered, proceeding to participate in the central procession at the Imamia Masjid, Astore.
After performing the Zuhrain prayers, a brief address was delivered, and nazr-o-niaz were distributed by various social groups and organizations. The central procession, adhering to its planned route, culminated at the Imam Bargah, Eidgah, Skardu.
Elaborate security arrangements were in place, with the assistance of Astore Police and G-B Scouts. Security personnel were stationed on buildings, and Pakistan Army was on standby to meet any untoward situation.
Streets connecting the procession route were cordoned off with barriers. Additionally, Rescue 1122 and the Health Department teams were present to provide medical assistance and handle emergencies, including a free medical camp set up for the mourners.
Accompanying the procession were Shams ul Haq Lone, Minister of Home Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, along with Divisional Commissioner, District Commissioner, IGP Police, Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Skardu, and Assistant Commissioner Shonter, who supervised security and other arrangements throughout the event.
At the conclusion of the procession, the organizers of Ashura processions expressed gratitude to the provincial government, divisional and district administrations, police, Pakistan Army, G-B Scouts, and all departments for their impeccable arrangements.”
