Gilgit (correspondent): While addressing a press conference with party leaders at Gilgit press club, PPP G-B leader Bashir Ahmed said the Diamar-Bhasha Dam is a red bone for Pakistan, however, there is a complete violation of this agreement.
He demanded of WAPDA to implement the agreement of 2010 with the effectees of Diamar-Dam project and provide employment to the unemployed people as per the agreement.
He said the chief minister and his ministers are engaged in guarding Zaman Park. Rs. 11 billion of Gilgit-Baltistan have been spent in Zaman Park. We will not allow the way the national treasure and the region are being mistreated. We will take to the streets.
Bashir Ahmed said Diamer-Bhasha Dam project has now become a company. Its CEO should be given full-four powers so that common issues can be resolved in Diamar. Tenders are being distributed among favored persons in Diamar for some time without tender process. All the contracting community should be given the right to join.
He also demanded to discourage posting of civil servants on the basis of political dislike. He demanded the chief secretary should ensure merit in the transfer of postings.
He further said that by amending the Rule of Business of Governance Order 2009, the local employees should be ensured their rightful share. Such an action will help reduce the anxiety of the employees of Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to him, the tension between the local and non-local officers for days, which has arisen due to the lack of interest and negligence of the Chief Minister.
He further said the implementation of the forest working plan should be made as soon as possible. Three billion rupees are with the forest department of Gilgit-Baltistan for the purpose of Diamar forest regression. These funds should be spent on the development of Diamar.
