Gilgit (C.R. Akbar Shah): Police arrested a person ‘Sabir Jan’ from Amphari Gilgit for committing the murder of an employee of 1122 Sharafat Hussain on June 5, 2022, in broad daylight in Gilgit city.
Addressing a press conference in Gilgit today, the Superintendent of Police Gilgit Shehbaz Ilahi said the arrest was made with help of CCTV cameras installed at different places in the city.
According to police, the accused is a close relative and friend of the deceased. The accused had been sent to Manawar jail for judicial remand on court orders after the police submitted the complete report of its investigation.
According to SSP Gilgit, the Saharafat murder case was a challenge for the police. He lauded the efforts of SHO City Police and his team in successfully arresting the accused.
He said that the accused opened fire on Sharafat Hussain when he was waiting for his children to take them home from school on June 5, 2022, at 12:15 PM outside Deputy Commissioner Office Nagaral Gilgit. The accused fled on a motorbike after firing on Sharafat who was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
The family members of the deceased were also present at the press conference. They thanked the city police for their success in arresting the murderer.
