Islamabad (staff reporter): Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khursheed has said the current coalition government has deducted 50% from Gilgit-Baltistan’s budget. He stated this while addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Sunday along with the former federal ministers, Murad Saeed and Amin Ali Gandapor.
While addressing the press conference, Khalid Khursheed said, the provincial government will hardly pay the salaries of government employees after a deduction in the region’s budget by half. He warned the federal government to take responsibility if God forbid any tragedy happens as the GB government has no funds to deal with it.
Khalid Khursheed stated Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) government gave a historic package of Rs. 370 billion to open the doors of a new era of development in GB. However. through a foreign conspiracy, his government was overthrown.
He said GB is still not part of the NFC Award. Inclusion in NFC Award would give GB a budget of Rs. 137 billion minimum. Currently, the people of GB are facing a shortage of wheat supply after the incumbent federal government deducted 50% quota previously provided to GB turning the region into a wheat crisis.
Speaking on this occasion, Murad Saeed stated the current budget allocation for Gilgit-Baltistan is less than the fund transferred into the bank accounts of Chaprasis. He said Imran Khan had started a new era of development in underprivileged areas esp. Gilgit-Baltistan. Completion of the Skardu-Gilgit road, approval of the Gilgit-Chitral Expressway and other projects were initiated by the PTI government.
While addressing the press conference. Amin Ali Gandapur said the ongoing projects would come to stop after a deduction in Gilgit-Baltistan’s budget by half. The imported government wants to make Modi happy by cutting the budget of Gilgit-Baltistan.
