Our inspirational story today features Asiya Wahab, who hails from the Gulmuti valley in Punial Tehsil, Ghizer district, Gilgit-Baltistan. Asiya Wahab has excelled in the Gilgit-Baltistan Competitive Exams (2021–22) in her first attempt and has been appointed to the position of Tehsildar. Her journey symbolizes not only dedication and resilience but also a profound commitment to serving her community.
Her educational journey began at Diamond Jubilee School Gulmuti, where she laid the foundation for her academic journey. For secondary school, she got admission at the Aga Khan Higher Secondary School (AKHSS), Gahkuch, where she was offered the prestigious Female Human Resource Development Program (FHRDP) Scholarship—an acknowledgment of her academic prowess.
After completing her intermediate education at AKHSS, Gahkuch, Asiya took admission at the Karakoram International University (KIU) for higher studies. She earned a BS Honors degree in Environmental Sciences from KIU. She was awarded a Gold Medal for her outstanding academic performance during her studies at KIU.

Talking to IBEX TIMES, Asiya said, her aspirations were deeply rooted in a desire to serve her people, inspired by the legacy of her late maternal grandfather. Her admiration for the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) has been a reason in pursuance of a path of service and leadership, added Asiya.
Before her appointment as first female Tehsildar, Asiya has been serving as the principal at Ghizer Higher Secondary School, Gahkuch. According to Asiya, her tenure in the role of principal has endowed her with adaptability, resilience, and a profound sense of purpose. Simultaneously, she also has been contributing to the Pakistan American Cultural Center as the lead English educator, leveraging her expertise to bridge cultural divides through education.
My success is a testament to my parents’ unwavering support, to Allah’s guidance, and to my unshakable belief in myself. Consistency, diligence, and a steadfast work ethic laid the foundation for my achievements.

Despite the challenges of balancing a job while preparing for competitive exams, Asiya succeeded in her first attempt. She became the first female from Ghizer district to qualify test and interview of Provincial management services test series of Gilgit-Baltistan Competitive Examination in her first attempt. She has now become a tehsildar.
