Gilgit (C.R Akbar Shah): Minister Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Qamar Zaman Kaira could not convince the president Pakistan Peoples Party and opposition leader Amjad Advocate to withdraw his resignation as member G-B assembly on Tuesday.
According to the details, the battle for the slot of Chief Minister is in full swing in Gilgit-Baltistan in the wake of the disqualification of Khalid Khurshid as chief minister and division of PTI members into three groups.
Opposition leaders Amjad Hussain Advocate and Ghulam Shehzad Agha have submitted their resignations as assembly members in protest against the intervention of Governor Gilgit Baltistan.
To resolve the developing issues within Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Qamar-ul-Zaman Kaira has arrived Gilgit on the instructions of Bilawal Bhutto.
During the meeting, the federal minister asked the opposition leader and others to withdraw their resignation and accept the decision of the central leadership. However, the opposition leader declined to withdraw his resignation. Amjad Hussain Advocate made it clear to the federal minister that he would not take part in the election for the chief minister slot. He would prefer to sit in the opposition rather, expressed Amjad Advocate.
According to party sources, Amjad Advocate would meet party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari very soon regarding the internal differences in the party and his concerns.
Haji Gulbar Khan, the candidate for the Chief Ministership, along with his group also met the Federal Minister, but the meeting was not fruitful. Former Chief Minister Hafeezur Rehman also met the Federal Minister and discussed the current political situation.
