National Women Front Gilgit-Baltistan Condemns Death of Dr. Naseem, Calls for Investigation and Justice

Dr. Naseem Ijaz from Gilgit-Baltistan was found death in the hostel of Lady Willingdon Hospital on Sunday.

Gilgit (PR): In a statement issued to media on Sunday, the National Women Front Gilgit-Baltistan has expressed its deep concern over the news of Dr. Naseem’s untimely death at a hospital associated with King Edward Medical University.

According to reports, Dr. Naseem was a resident of Gilgit-Baltistan, who was on leave due to the death of her father. When she returned to work, she found that her salary had been stopped and her Head of Department (HOD) had made her life a living hell.

She was found dead in her hostel room, and her colleagues believe that the mistreatment she endured at work may have contributed to her death.

National Women Front GB offers its condolences to Dr. Naseem’s family and colleagues and stand in solidarity with them in their quest for justice. We strongly condemn the mistreatment and harassment of Dr. Naseem by her HOD and the stopping of her salary. This is a clear violation of her rights and it highlights the need for urgent reform in the medical profession and in the workplace as a whole.

We call on the authorities to conduct a fair and transparent investigation into the circumstances leading up to Dr. Naseem’s death. We demand that those responsible for mistreating her, including the HOD and the management staff, be held accountable and brought to justice.

Dr. Naseem’s death is a tragic reminder of the ongoing struggle for gender equality and women’s rights in Pakistan. Women, particularly those in male-dominated fields, continue to face discrimination and harassment in the workplace, which can have severe consequences for their mental and physical health. It is time to put an end to this kind of behavior and to create safe and supportive work environments for women.

We stand with Dr. Naseem’s family and colleagues in their grief and their demands for justice. We urge the authorities to take immediate action to ensure that those responsible for Dr. Naseem’s mistreatment and death are held accountable and that measures are taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

We call on the public and the medical community to support our demands for justice for Dr. Naseem and to join us in our fight for gender equality and women’s rights in Pakistan.
