PTI Chief Imran Khan summoned on Thursday a meeting of CM GB and his ministers in Peshawar on an urgent basis. Important decisions are expected from the meeting. Khan has summoned the meeting amid speculations of the formation of a forward bloc in the GB government.
According to sources, a forward block of the provincial cabinet has come into being after the dismissal of Javed Manwa as finance minister and amid speculations of similar action against others. The current developments in the GB government are a vivid show of division within the ruling party in Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to sources, the dismissals of a number of other members are underway for their likely support to the opposition in a no-confidence vote against CM Khalid Khursheed. Advisor to CM on food Suhail Abbas, provincial minister of planning and development Fateh-Ullah Khan, Minister of forests Fateh-Ullah Khan, and Deputy Speaker Nazir Ahmad are said to be the next on the hit list.
According to sources, important decisions are expected from Imran Khan’s meeting with government ministers. The dissident PTI GB ministers are blaming the CM for dismissing Javed Manwa without serving any notice. Such steps are not all in the interest of the public.
Reacting to the dismissal of Manwa, the deputy speaker of GBLA, Nazir Ahamd Advocate vowed to raise their voice against CM’s action. He has stated that an action plan would be charted out to show discontent over the inappropriate actions of the CM. The Deputy Speaker declared the dismissal of Manwa illegal. According to him, dismissal of a minister is not a prerogative of the CM, it rather comes under the domain of the governor.
Reacting to his dismissal as finance minister, Javed Manwa has stated that CM Khalid Khursheed did what he could do, and now it’s his turn to make a decision using his legal rights.
