Islamabad (Ibex Times report): Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) Mohiuddin Ahmed Wan said on Sunday that recommendations of one thousands ‘education fellows’ have been sought for the supervision and start of regular teaching-learning at ghost schools in G-B.
Chief secretary said the education fellows will be posted in those districts where the physical infrastructure of schools is available. He further said due to lack of human resources, these schools are presenting an image of ghost schools. Soon they will remain no more ghost schools, he added.
He said the new measure is a watershed for the educational scenario of whole Gilgit-Baltistan. These mentioned education fellows will be hired on contractual basis through a third party service provider for a period of 03 years. These education fellows will give their services on the same footing as that of ‘Teach for Pakistan’ and ‘Tech Fellow’ programs already in operation in G-B, said chief secretary.
He said that the purpose of recruiting these education fellows on contractual basis is to ensure quality education. Because, unlike those with permanent jobs, the service providers on these non-permanent jobs would easily be replaced with qualified people in case of non-performance.
According to the chief secretary, these education fellows will be deployed across the region indiscriminately and as per need. Moreover, the education fellows will get rigorous training in teaching in local educational setup, game-based learning and other tools required to enable them in their domains.
Our target will be Primary, middle as well as higher secondary schools to impart quality science and technology education, added the chief secretary.
According to the chief secretary G-B, the department of Education G-B will work with third party service providers to ensure quality and attendance. Education department will monitor the progress through effective usage of advanced technology.
He expressed his determination to ensured the officials of education department visit these schools at least once a week. By carrying out these measures, the new project will prove to be a memorable and effective in achieving its aims as per the aspirations of the people of the region, said CS G-B.
Chief Secretary Mohiuddin Ahmad Wani expressed his hope that the new measures will prove revolutionary with each passing day and make Gilgit-Baltistan a hub of modern education and learner’s paradise.
