Zameer Abbas takes charge as secretary Information department Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit (Bureau chief): On Tuesday, Information Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Zameer Abbas assumed charge of his post.

The newly appointed secretary information took a departmental briefing. He was briefed about the structure of the organization, payments of arrears of advertisements, training courses for officers and other departmental matters.

Secretary of Information Gilgit-Baltistan expressed his determination to ensure the efficiency of the Information Department by using teamwork and integrated planning. He expressed his hope to align his department with the present digital age and rapidly changing technology.

Addressing departmental employees he said the officers of the Information Department have a heavy responsibility to keep the public informed with detailed, comprehensive, and accurate information promptly so that news based on negative propaganda and false information can be dealt with effectively.

In the current era of information war, only talented and competent officers can give a face-to-face response to the elements who are spreading negative propaganda against the state, said Zameer Abbas.

The Information Secretary urged the officers to highlight government initiatives and activities through authentic news on newspapers and social media platforms and keep the public informed about the people-friendly policies of the provincial government.

Secretary of Information Gilgit-Baltistan further said that the Department of Information will introduce journalism-friendly policies in the coming days. Soon detailed recommendations for the release of the endowment fund for the welfare of working journalists will be sent for the final approval of the Chief Secretary and Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan.

On this occasion, Secretary Information Zameer Abbas also expressed his determination that he will use all available resources to develop the department on new lines and highlight the performance of various departments of the provincial government, including the development of the local media industry and the region.
