Gilgit-Baltistan (Monitoring desk): Deputy Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA), Sadia Danish, and Member Assembly Rani Sanam Faryad held a meeting with the US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Armin Blome in Gilgit city on Friday.
During the meeting, various matters of mutual interests were discussed in detail between between Sadia Danish and the US ambassador Donald Armin Blome and the accompanying American delegation.
The two leaders discussed different ideas and possible plans to promote the development and well-being of women in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Discussing potential cooperation in the education sector, Sadia Danish requested the US Ambassador to Pakistan to provide opportunities for students of Gilgit-Baltistan to access scholarships and admissions to American universities.
During the meeting, Sadia Danish said Gilgit-Baltistan is a region rich in natural beauty and resources. However, she pointed out that the region faces challenges due to climate change, resulting in floods and heavy rainfall that lead to both human and economic losses for the local communities.
She emphasized the need for taking immediate actions to protect the environment. In response, the US Ambassador assured the Deputy Speaker Gilgit-Baltistan of special support in the field of environmental preservation, tourism, women’s advancement, and education.
Additionally, she highlighted the numerous opportunities in the tourism sector within Gilgit-Baltistan and called for technical support and collaboration to foster its development.
This meeting is viewed as a significant step in enhancing international ties and cooperation aimed at empowering women in Gilgit-Baltistan.”
