Gilgit (Ibex report): Secretary Interior Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) Mohammad Saleem Afzal inaugurated the first digital census campaign by writing the Urdu alphabet 001م ش (a short form for the census) on the wall of the statistical block in Gilgit city.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Gilgit, census staff and other officers were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the opening ceremony, the secretary of interior G-B said that census is a national duty. All resources will be used to make it successful. It has a key role in the economy and planning of the country.
Secretary Interior Gilgit-Baltistan appealed to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan to cooperate with the census staff and extend their full cooperation to the respective teams in the enumeration of all buildings and households.
Secretary Interior Gilgit-Baltistan further said that all the arrangements for the census have been completed and the census will continue in Gilgit-Baltistan from March 1 to April 1, 2023, like the rest of the country, in which the members of all the families of Gilgit-Baltistan will be counted. Data will be entered.
Secretary Interior Gilgit-Baltistan issued instructions to the census teams to take all possible steps to make the census a success by ensuring the registration of all the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
