Islamabad (PR): In a meeting between the federal minister for Kashmir affairs and the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, it has been agreed to increase the minimum level of the price of subsidized wheat.
With this agreement to increase in the price of subsidized wheat, the federation has decided to release the subsidized quota of wheat to Gilgit-Baltistan for the months of April, May, and June in the next few days.
It is pertinent to note that the federal government had made the release of subsidized wheat quota with an increase in its in Gil-Baltistan. However, the G-B government was reluctant to go as per the demand of the federal government to avoid the backlash back home over this unpopular decision.
After agreeing to introduce increase in price of subsidized wheat to a minimum level, the G-B government has conveyed its concerns without over this decision. According to G-B government, it reiterated an urgent need of support in the development of the agricultural sector of Gilgit-Baltistan, else any increase in wheat prices would be a challenge.
