Secretary Transport G-B recommends an increase of 12% in transport fares

Secretary transport G-B chairs a meeting with transport owners in connection with proposed increase in transport fare

Gilgit (PR): Chaired by secretary transport G-B Syed Akhtar Hussain, a meeting of provincial transport authority G-B and transport owners in connection with the proposed increase in transport fare took place on Thursday in Gilgit city.

Matters in connection with frequent hike in prizes of petroleum products and proposed increase in transport fares came under discussion.

According to secretary transport, a consensus developed during the meeting with all stakeholders. According to the consensus provincial transport authority has recommended chief Minister G-B to approve an increase of 12% in transport fares in Gilgit-Baltistan.

To the end of the meeting, secretary excise, taxation and transport G-B Syed Akhtar Hussain asked the owners and managers of all transport companies to keep the physical fitness and tokens of all transport vehicles updated and take care of cleanliness.

Secretary taxation also advised his subordinates to provide discount in travel fares to both male and female students and those with special needs.

Those participating in the meeting included deputy Secretary Excise and Taxation Mutahir Ahmad, deputy director excise G-B Abu Bakr Siddique, deputy director transport Moazzam Ali Ahmed, deputy director Baltistan Division Syed Yasir Hussain, deputy Director Gilgit Division Mir Ekhult-ul-Haq, Excise and Taxation Officer Gilgit Nasir Ali.

Moreover, the excise officer Shigar, Imran Wali, representatives of the Interior, finance and transport owners association G-B, Transport Union G-B,  Drivers Union and NATCO also participated.
