Gilgit: Addressing the GBLA session on Sunday, the opposition leader in GBLA Amjad Hussain advocate welcomed the passage of the Gilgit-Baltistan Commission on Status of Women. He said the formation of the commission will help take steps in connection with women’s empowerment in the region.
Addressing the session he said reserving funds in the name of block allocation will not be accepted. The opposition would write to NAB for any such fund. We suggest the allocation of funds for the educational, health, and tourism sectors instead.
He said the budget is always made for the privileged class. Hence, Rs. 2000 should be allocated for poor households.
Amjad advocate further said for the last two years, economic activities have come to halt due to the suspension of border trade with China. This has led to unemployment in the area. Thus amid the increasing inflation rate, measures should be taken to provide relief to the common man.
He also demanded to solve the problem of contractual employees whose cases are on courts creating economic hurdles for the concerned people. Delay in the regularisation of contractual employees will further add to the existing problems of the contractual employees.
