Gilgit (Ibex Times): The opposition members in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly have decided organize people’s assembly by staging a sit-in outside Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) Assembly.
To protest against failure to call assembly session, the opposition members are planning to organize people’s assembly outside Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA).
People are protesting against land reforms including wheat and power crises. Amidst the public anger, the GBLA session need to be called to deliberate to solve people face. However, CM and Speaker of GBLA are least bothered to call assembly session for last many months. The discontinuation of the sessions is causing unnecessary delay in passing of resolutions and enacting laws on important matters.
In this regard, Pakistan People’s Party’s leader and member GBLA Ghulam Shehzad Agha has said, ”since the doors of the assembly have been closed, the opposition members have formally decided stage a outside GBLA.
He further said opposition members will stage the sit-in along with common people on Tuesday morning 10:00 Am and hold a people’s assembly outside the Legislative Assembly.
If the government wants to hold a sit-in in D Chowk, let them sit outside Zaman Park. We have not stopped them. But, they should at least should not forget about the problems people of GB are facing, said Agha.
Agha further said the people of G-B are stuck in problems. The government’s act of keeping the assembly locked for months is adding to the problems of G-B. The incompetent people are on the run in the name of participating PTI protest from Zaman park, stated Agah.
